Cider donuts…
What was that? Cider donuts? A perennial fall favorite. The icing on the cake, so to speak, after a long day.
Harvest time. Reaping what was sown in the early spring.
Here at bruyn designed, we are enjoying our own harvest. We are reaping the rewards from seeds that were sown over the years. Seeds of knowledge, nurtured with curiosity, ethics and integrity, are now offering up their bounty, and we are passing that bounty on to our clients.
Years ago, I realized my ability to envision sizes, shapes and volumes in three dimensions. While I never thought of it as being a gift, I was the guy everyone called when it was time to move, because I was able to fit everything in the truck the first time, every time. This ability lent itself well to my true passion: Architecture. My studies in architecture took my skills and interests, then honed them to desirable traits, and marketable skills.
When I graduated college, more seeds were planted as I began working with a design build firm that specialized in kitchens. Day after day, my mind was a proverbial sponge, absorbing everything going on around me. I took in tidbits of information here, noted how things functioned over there, analyzed what works and what doesn’t, and more importantly, WHY. I witnessed drawer slides go from side mount, to undermount, to full extension undermount, to full extension undermount with soft close and 6-way adjustability. I observed under cabinet lighting go from florescent to halogen, to xenon, to the LED lights in use today. So many things have changed in the last 19 years, but certain things have remained. For instance, the desire to do right by our clients, and the belief that everyone deserves a quality design regardless of budget. Trends come and go, but quality lasts.
I could go on and on, filling a book about what I’ve learned over the years, but that’s not what the fall harvest is about. Harvest time is about appreciating the success of those seeds that were so diligently tended to. Or in our case, here at bruyn designed, a time to step back and reminisce on where we have been and what we’ve accomplished, as we look down the road we traveled to get to where we are now.
In the last 18 months, bruyn designed was fully established after a rebranding, another kitchen design firm was acquired, employees have been added, local charitable causes are being supported, and growth has been steadily increasing. I can’t help but to celebrate all the hard work dedicated over the years to bring us to where we are today. We truly are reaping the rewards of what we have sown.
Moving forward, I have a vision of where we want to be in five years, and beyond. Those seeds are being planted now. If you have not been part of our growth, please join us now. We want to share our harvest with you. Help us nurture the seeds we are planting for tomorrow. And by all means, stop and enjoy a cider donut or two.
